Esmod Kick start

Bolduc ribbon fastenings in progress.. + part of our trend book inspo/mood board for our design class

The garment construction process

Awkward bathroom selfie - a blogger's gotta do what a blogger's gotta do! + flat pattern of 4-piece suit jacket

This jacket is unfortunately not mine.. had to show a better example haha

Long time no see! I've now had a few weeks at Esmod, Oslo, and I'm digging it! The other students, the professors, the classes: all exactly as I was hoping for, maybe even better! But we got a real kick start to the school year.. Our very first sewing assignment was a 4-piece suit jacket, which we got way too little time for.. Maybe one or two finished it out of around 25 students and few of us slept the days before the deadline. Especially since we also had an assignment in design with deadline a couple days before the jacket assignment. I only slept for about an average of 2.5 hours per night for 3 nights straight! I love it tho! Haha I know it sounds weird when I talk about sleepless nights and not making the deadline and pairing that with "I love it." I want it to be hard; I need to improve my ability to work quickly but with precision and be productive while still making sure to get the details right. I'm a perfectionist by nature, and I spend way too much time on double and triple checking that everything is as close to perfect as they can get from the start, so that I either don't get any sleep or run out of time and have to scramble everything together at the end to even have anything to deliver at all - or both, as in this case. I usually end up getting it all done and being rewarded with a good grade, but so do my fellow students who spend half the time.. So that's something I'm going to work on a lot more these two years at Esmod.

I've decided, since school takes up so much time (even if I get more productive with my school work) and I need to get a job, I'll most likely only post for my blog once a week during school. I wish I had more time for it 'cause I really like blogging - I feel like I'm still trying to find my voice and mission for my blog, but I'm enjoying the process even tho it's a slow one. I have A TON of content I've started on so stay tuned for future posts! I've also decided that I'll only write in English 'cause I'll save a lot of time not having to translate it all to Norwegian, and I feel that most of you understand the English part perfectly well anyways, but please let me know if you want me to continue writing in both languages 'cause then I definitely will! :)
